Hey everyone as you guys know that i am doing a detailed blog post which includes how to buy a domain and how to link it to your blogger and the after issues which one can face after using a custom domain on their blog.So as you guys know that i have done a detailed post on the Step -1 which is "How to buy a domain on Godaddy" for your Blogger blog and in this post i am going to talk about the next step which is the Step-2 "How to link a custom domain to your blogger blog".



If you are reading this post that means you have already bought a domain for your blog and if you haven't than what are you waiting for, check out the Step-1 post and buy a domain for yourself .If you have a domain and wanna link it to your blog  but not sure how to do it ,come along with me and i will show you how you can do that.I am going to do it on my demo blog just to show you all the steps.



So first of all you need to go to the settings option on the left side of your blogger blog and when you will click on the setting option it will take you to the page where you can change your blog address,as you can see in the picture above there is an option highlighted in blue " +Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog" you just need to click on that in order to change the blog address.



After clicking on the "+setup a third party URL for your blog " you will see a tab just like in the above picture, where you need to place the new domain, you have bought for your blog.As you can see there is already "http://" written, so you need to type your domain after it with www.(your domain).(your extension) in the tab. Like for example i have written "www.thegirls kornerblog1.com" and after writing your domain ,just click on save and it will show you an error,refer to the picture down below.



This error simply means that you need to change few settings in order to link your purchased domain and for that you have to sign in to your Godaddy account or any registrar you have chosen to buy your domain name,and as you can see in the above picture ,you have all the various CNAME's registrars and setting instructions,you can take help from there as well if you have any doubt.

  I have bought my domain from Godaddy so i will login to Godaddy account and once that's done just click on "My Products" if you have purchased a domain,then you will be able to see it in the My product section and from there only you would be able to change the settings.Once we have opened our domain settings we would need to work with the " Name,Label or Host field " ,"Destination,Target or Point to" field. Refer to the above post in that you can see the lines which i have pointed out with the arrow.No matter what domain registrar you have chosen to buy your domain names,the only basic setting is that you need to enter the two fields into the CNAME's file. 



As you can see in the pictures above,once you have clicked on the My products it will show you Domains and from here you will change the domain setting and for that you will need to click on the  + and it will expand and once it's expanded it will give you all the options like Domains ,Transfers,Auctions,My Bids.We need to stick to the Domains only and it has a option My Domains and it will show all the domains you have purchased and mine showing only one because i have only bought thegirlskornerblog.com. Since i have already done everything and my domain is already live ,i am going to show you the things which you need to change after purchasing a domain,i will not change any setting because it can create problem on my blog.

As you can see in the picture down below there is an option  " Manage DNS" just click on that.



Here you can see above,these are all the CNAME'S and we have to change two fields here.I have actually redirected the purchased domain name to my blog and i have done both the entries already so now i am just gonna show you what are the two entries you need to do.For the first entry you need to check that,there must be a CNAME entry with the "www" in the Name section already,and in the Value section it should have "@" in it.So what you need to do is just click edit and keep the "www "as is and for the value just copy the first field entry and paste in the value section,at the place of "@". Just replace the "@" with the 1st entry. Refer to the image down below if you are little confused about the entries.After you have edited the first entry correctly,it should look something like the pink highlighted entry,in the above picture .Remember these entries may vary and these would be diffrent for diffrent accounts.So copy and paste the one you see on your blog while setting the 3rd party url for your blog.  


Now for the second entry you need to Add a new Record by clicking on the "ADD" option.




Once you have selected CNAME it will open open a window in which you need to put the "Host" and "Points to" field,which we saw above.Put the Host field in the "Host" tab and the "Points to" field in the "Points to" tab and then just click Save .



Once you have entered both the entries correctly the entries should look similar to the above picture.After that's done you can close your Godaddy account and go back to the blogger page. 



 The last thing you need to do is click Save and it will get saved easily.That means you have successfully redirected your blog your new Domain.
